web templates

web templates helped me a lot during my coding journey! i encourage you to try something out and make it your own :P make sure to credit the original maker though!

art

  • martin salisbury's books: mostly about (children's book) illustration, gives history and resources, but doesn't tell you "this is the only correct way to draw". big fan! (my favorites: drawing for illustration / 100 great children's picturebooks / illustrating children's picturebooks)
  • webcomic template
  • drawabox: free art lessons
  • ctrlpaint: also free art lessons
  • sketchdaily: pose drawing references
  • coolors: color palette generator
  • picturebookmakers: blogposts by childrens book illustrators about how they made a book. a few of these blogposts have been made into a book called (very original) picturebookmakers.

art history

  • tashen: your local library will probably have some of these, they're great to learn from and have lots of images!
  • wikipedia: this counts mostly for famous artists, lesser known artists wont have that much information on their pages. but people like goya and monet have a lot of useful information on their wikipedias!
  • smart history: a youtube channel that we watch a lot during my classes

graphics

misc

  • ellipsus: a writing tool! it has templates to plan out your stories. i don't write all that often but i've found it useful!
  • ihavenotv: documentaries
  • yaygender: identity widget
